Strike could ground all Aer Lingus flights next week
01.06.11
Aer Lingus might cancel all of its flights from next Tuesday after its pilots voted in favour of strike action. The airline also said its pilots' decision not to work on rostered rest days or annual leave and to report an hour late for duty could disrupt flights throughout the busy summer period.
Members of the Irish Airline's Pilots' Association (union) voted in favour of strike action after talks with the airline broke down. Aer Lingus Chief executive Christoph Mueller said: ‘This may lead to a full cancellation of operations from Tuesday June 7 unless IALPA / IMPACT cancel this action.’
A spokesman for the airline said it had invited the unions to further talks to try to resolve the dispute, which centres around new rosters and is not about pay.
