Weather hits flights at Belfast Airports
05.01.08
Freezing weather brought travel chaos to Northern Ireland yesterday, with Belfast City Airport was closed for a period and the first flight of the day taking off almost three half hours late. Flights were also affected at Belfast International Airport, although the airport remained open. City of Derry Airport also remained open but some flights were subject to delays.
A spokesman for the Met Office said the snowfall was 'heavier than anticipated', meaning that they had not given the usual weather warning. People were advised to stay at home unless their journey was absolutely necessary, with several schools closed for the day and many bus services at a standstill.
