Belfast International popular with Irish passengers
05.03.09
Belfast International Airport is proving popular for travellers flying in and out of Ireland. The airport says that its passenger numbers have gone up in the wake of the increase in value of the euro, with ‘savvy’ flyers making savings by paying for their travel in sterling.
The airport also says that the current economic climate is helping its popularity, with hotels and flights cheaper due to VAT reductions. Uel Hoey, the Belfast airport's business development director, said: ‘In these times of economic doom and gloom people value their holidays even more. Many travellers, who would have previously chosen to fly from Dublin, are finding that they can avail of massive savings by flying from Belfast.'
