Flybe flights hit by de-icer failure
06.12.11
Eight Flybe flights from Belfast City Airport to a number of UK cities were delayed yesterday after the airline experienced technical issues with its de-icing equipment. In addition to the delays, a flight to Glasgow was cancelled as a result of the problems, which were only resolved at around 15:00.
Snow fell in various parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland on Sunday night, with up to 5cm on high ground. Belfast City Airport has its own de-icers, but they are contracted to deal with BMI and bmibaby planes. They were used by Flybe when those arrangements had been fulfilled.
