Polish drug smugglers jailed
12.06.09
Two Polish men who tried to smuggle cocaine worth over £500,000 into Northern Ireland via Belfast International Airport were jailed for 10 years and 4 months yesterday. Adam Ruczaj, 28 and Tomasz Ciulwik, 29, were stopped at the airport after arriving on a flight from Amsterdam last August.
The pair, who are both from Poswietne, Bielsk Podlaski were found to have swallowed a total of 200 packages of cocaine between them. Antrim Crown Court heard that both men claimed that they thought they were smuggling cannabis. However, after they were taken to hospital for examination, it was discovered the drugs were in fact cocaine worth over £500,000.
