Six years for Dutch drug smuggler

A Dutch woman who swallowed cocaine worth over £500,000 in an attempt to smuggle it into Northern Ireland via Belfast International Airport was jailed for six years yesterday.
Gerda Lienga, 42, was arrested at the airport last June after arriving on a flight from Africa via Paris. She was taken to hospital where 110 small packages containing more than a kilo of very high purity cocaine were recovered. She was jailed for six years at Ballymena Crown Court yesterday and will be deported on completion of her sentence.
