Anti-trafficking campaign at Belfast City Airport
15.10.10
A poster campaign against human trafficking was launched yesterday by Justice Minister David Ford at Belfast City Airport. 'Visitor or Victim' posters have been placed at airports to make potential victims aware of the dangers of trafficking.
The posters will be displayed at points of entry to Northern Ireland including airports, and also at health centres. They are written in nine languages - English, Mandarin, French, Romanian, Lithuanian, Russian, Thai, Czech and Albanian - and ask visitors if they have been tricked or deceived into coming to the country, urging them to contact Crimestoppers.
The poster campaign has been organised by the Justice Department in cooperation with the Serious Organised Crime Agency and coincides with UK Anti-Slavery Day on Monday, also EU Anti-Trafficking Day. Minister Ford said he wants trafficking victims to know there is help available.
