BMI axe Heathrow flight
16.09.09
BMI is reducing the number of flights it operates between Belfast City Airport and Heathrow from 8 to 7 a day from the end of next month. The airline has been under pressure from Aer Lingus, who launched competing flights between Belfast International and Heathrow a year ago.
From October 25, BMI's 19:00 flight from Heathrow to Belfast City and its 21:05 flight in the opposite direction will be axed for the duration of the winter schedule. In an email to passengers, the airline said it would try to make alternative arrangements for those who had already booked on these flights.
A spokesman for the airline said: ‘The two early evening flights, which leave within 40 minutes of each other, will be merged. This change in the winter timetable maintains adequate passenger capacity on the route.’
