City Airport hotel plans moving forward
19.05.10
Several hotel companies are interested in building and running a hotel near Belfast City Airport, its chief executive has told the Belfast Telegraph. Plans for a hotel near the airport have previously been explored without any deal being struck, but Brian Ambrose told the newspaper that the plans are moving forward.
He said: ‘It [an airport hotel] is part of our master plan. We have identified the location and we are talking to a number of companies at the moment about a deal for an airport hotel. I am optimistic that we will be announcing details by the end of this year.' Mr Ambrose did not disclose the names of the companies with which he has held talks, but said a hotel would be ‘150-bedrooms, three-star plus’, making it affordable to people in Belfast for business or leisure.
