Expanded security area to cut queues at Belfast City

Passengers passing through security at Belfast City Airport will have a shorter wait this Christmas. Extra search channels being introduced today, which will cut queues for festive travellers by up to 50%.
Four new security archways, increased staffing and the latest screening technology to reduce false alarms for harmless items, will be opened today. A fast track lane for business class passengers will also open next month, with the changes the latest phase in a £6m terminal upgrade which last month saw the opening of a new departures lounge, creating 20 jobs.
Stephen Moreland, head of security at Belfast City Airport, said: ‘We are working hard to improve the passenger experience. No one likes queuing, so we are investing heavily in additional archways and screening equipment that will speed passengers journey times through security by up to 50%.’
