New building restrictions near Belfast City
23.12.07
New restrictions on property development have come into force around Belfast City Airport. The revised public safety zones are part of measures being introduced at major UK airports to limit damage and casualties in the event of an aircraft overshooting the runway.
The restrictions mean that there is now a presumption against development in an area covering part of the Oval Football Ground, some houses and old Mersey Street school. The new policy also applies to Belfast International, which is in a more rural location in County Antrim.
