New reduced mobility services at Belfast International
27.07.08
Belfast International Airport introduced a number of new services for passengers with reduced mobility ahead of the new EU legislation introduced yesterday. The regulations make it easier for disabled passengers to travel through Europe, putting the onus on airports to assist them with their journey.
Belfast International Airport has introduced a number of new services after working closely with airlines to develop services that met their operational needs while improving the passage for disabled passengers.
Airport operations manager Rod Haskins said: ‘After a tender process we awarded Interserve the contract to manage these services at Belfast and they successfully took over at the beginning of June, two months ahead of the EU legislation start date.'
‘Interserve has a team of trained staff to deal with passengers who require assistance. The passengers will continue to request the help through their airline or travel agent [at time of booking]. These details are then passed through to Interserve to help on their travel through Belfast International.’
