Man caught with £10,000 in his pants
30.07.10
Just over £10,000 in cash was found in an Italian man's pants as he was about to fly out from Belfast International Airport late last week. UK Border Agency officers discovered the money when the man, who was about to board a flight to Rome, was stopped and searched last Friday.
In addition to the money in his pants, he also had large denomination Sterling and Euro notes in his shorts, pockets and wallet. He was unable to give a reasonable explanation for carrying the cash, so it was detained under the Proceeds of Crime Act and will only be returned if he can provide proof to a court that it came from a legitimate source. The man elected not to travel on the flight.
