Concern raised over City Airport security
31.12.10
Concerns have been raised about security at Belfast City Airport after a passenger boarded a flight to Heathrow without being asked for ID, the Belfast Telegraph reports. The man told the newspaper he was surprised to pass through the airport’s security points and departure gate without being asked to provide any form of identification.
The passenger was flying to Heathrow Airport with airline bmi. A spokesman for the airline told the newspaper that they 'are not obliged to check passenger identification with domestic flights’, although it is very unusual for this not to happen. An East Belfast MLA has called for tighter security at the airport after the incident.
